Jason Voorhees is the Antagonist of the Friday the 13th universe, he is the Son of Pamela Voorhees and Mr.Voorhees, and the Step-Son of Elias Voorhees, and is seemingly the Half-Brother to Diana Kimble, and is the infamous serial killer of Camp Crystal Lake also known as Camp Blood, and is the secondary Antagonist of Freddy Vs Jason, alongside Freddy Krueger.
Jason Voorhees has the highest body count of any previous killer from 157 to 20,000+ confirmed kills.
History[]
Jason Voorhees was born in the small town of Crystal Lake in New Jersey of June 13, 1946, to an Unknown Man and Pamela Voorhees. Jason was afflicted with severe facial deformities, Hydrocephalus, an abnormally large head and mental disabilities due to the abuse inflicted by his monstrous size Step-Father.[21]
Due to his facial deformity, and at the time his lack of educational prowess, Jason is sheltered and kept on the camp grounds with his mother, who was the head cook for everyone there, Jason was unfortunately bullied by the other children, from verbal and physical harassment, Jason wasn't always protected when his mother was around, and so she would have believed the Counselors would be there for her son when she wasn't.
But in the summer of 1957, Jason would try to prove that he could swim to everyone who doubted him but is watched unsupervised by the Camp counselors and had supposedly drowned in the lake, but his body was not found anywhere around or inside the lake, and Ms. Pamela was left to mourn the death of her only child which slowly caused her to drive into a state of rage, madness, sadness, and vengeance.[22]
In 1979 it was Steve Christy who was attempting to re-open Camp Crystal Lake. He and his counselors are slaughtered by Pamela Sue Voorhees the mother of Jason and during a conflict with one of the last known victims his mother was decapitated by her own Machete by the final girl named Alice who survives, and Jason somewhere around the area witness this and sought vengeance for his mother's death.[23]
During Alice stay after going through Psychological therapy she had stayed in the town, and was giving hints of being stalked and watch, and that she had to look over her shoulders, it was months after the Camp Crystal Lake incident and she was feeling nervous, after going through a post-traumatic situation, and one night as she was on the phone with her mother, she felt unease and begin searching her home, until she goes into the refrigerator and sees the decayed decapitated head of Mrs.Voorhees, and as she was about to scream, Jason comes from behind and drives a ice pick through her skull instantly killing her, and five years later, Alice was reported missing, with no one knew what had happened, but the case is ruled to be a homicide based on the traces of her blood on the walls of her apartment. The body of Alice is never recovered, and on Wednesday, July 11, 1984 a new group of camp counselors taught under Paul Holt is on their way to the campgrounds to be trained for the future reopening after the camp laid dormant and while Jason started to kill off the counselors one by one, like his mother once did so many years before with the counselors dead and the final girl Ginny Fields surviving the attack by tricking Jason into thinking she was his mother using her child psychology experience, with her lover Paul now deceased and her being sent to the hospital due to the ordeal.[24]
The day after the carnage at the grounds, and left bleeding in his Shack, Jason Voorhees revealing to have survived his attack caused by Gina with a machete to the shoulder, with him crawling away, and killing and stealing from a family owned store run by Harold Hockett and his wife Edna Hockett, they are left in their shop home, and with the new clothes revealing just how muscular he is in appearance, Meanwhile, Chris and her occasional boyfriend, Rick, are hosting a group of teenage friends at a family lake house. Despite a run-in with a local biker gang, they enjoy an amiable weekend together that is, until Jason begins knocking off the teenagers and bikers alike, starting with Shelly Finkelstein, which Jason steals the young mans hockey mask after slitting his throat, and going on a new rampage, which Chris and Rick were away when Jason was busy killing off their friends, she revealed that she was assaulted, left on the floor, and later found by her family, which when they returned to find the place in disorder, it's rick who is muffled by the hands of the strongman Jason, who crushes his skull with his bare hands, and throws his corpse inside the large cabin, and after chasing Chris through the cabin, and a minor chase in a van, which leads them to the Barn, which Jason is later confronted by one of his unknowingly not deceased victims, Ali who fought against Jason to no avails Jason chops his hand off and begins chopping at him on the floor, and not before Chris gets her payback on him as she impales him on the head with an Axe, seemingly killing him, and as she leaves and is rescued later. [25]
A carefree lakeside vacation is interrupted by the resurrection of killer Jason Voorhees. After he escapes from a morgue after waking up, leaving bodies in his wake, Jason travels back to Camp Crystal Lake where a group of friends is staying. The teens meet some locals: Tommy Jarvis and Trish, as well as secretive hiker Rob. As the group of teenagers engages in drunken debauchery, their numbers begin to dwindle, and pieces of the past resurface. [26]
Only mentioned throughout the film as the inspiration behind Roy Burns killing spree as he terrorizes Tommy Jarvis and other patients at the Pinehurst cabins using the Legend of Jason to try to throw off the police on his trail. [27]
Years ago, Tommy Jarvis killed the infamous hockey-masked murderer Jason Voorhees, and the intensity of the experience has landed him in numerous mental institutions. On July 12th, 19xx To end his torment and achieve a level of closure, Tommy escapes from the hospital with his friend Allen Hawes and heads to the graveyard where Jason is buried, intending to dig up the body and cremate it. But, before this total annihilation can occur, a freak electrical accident resurrects Jason from the dead, and the terror begins anew. Jason starts a new killing spree which causes Tommy to go to the police department to tell them what he had done but the sheriff and deputy themselves ignored the labeled crazed teenager and locked him in a ceil. [28]
On October 13, 1996, a few years later after the chaining of Jason Voorhees, after the strange drowning death of her father, Tina Shepard returns to the site of his demise, Crystal Lake. Her developing psychic powers were responsible for ending his life, leaving Tina riddled with guilt as an adult. As of May 2002, the deceitful Dr. Crews tries to manipulate her abilities for his own ends, both physician and patient are in for a shock when Tina's powers unwittingly free camper-killer Jason Voorhees from his watery slumber. [29]
In June 2002, the Mass murderer Jason Voorhees is resurrected for the second time from the bottom of Crystal Lake. After he kills a passing boat's occupants, he stows away on a cruise ship filled with a high-school graduating class-bound for New York City. Biology teacher Charles McCulloch is on board with his niece, Rennie, who has visions of Jason drowning as a child. They escape his bloody shipboard rampage, but, when Rennie and Charles reach Manhattan, Jason is close by. [30]
And in 2003 an undercover Female FBI operative lured Jason into a trap set up by the FBI while being blown away by a team of FBI agents, Jason Voorhees needs to find a way to overcome certain death. When his bloodied remains are sent to the morgue, his heart, still intact, is able to hypnotize a coroner and take over his body. After brutally dispatching a couple of FBI agents, he heads back to his favorite stomping grounds: Crystal Lake. Jason commences another teen massacre while a bounty hunter named Duke discovers the only way to kill him. [31]
Set in the same year of 2003 in somewhere around Autumn, Jason faces off against another supernatural serial killer, Freddy Krueger, who impersonates his mother to awaken him from his slumber, which keeps Jason going on a killing spree across Elm Street, as the body count continued for Jason, it left Freddy still being kept in the darkness, which pissed him off because Freddy couldn't properly regain his power due to Jason taking away his victims, it's later where Jason is rendered unconscious, by a possessed Bill Freebug which has a brief conflict between Jason and Freddy until Freddy is left to be taken into the real world by Lori Campbell which a real fight between the two slashers happens that leaves Freddy mutilated with one arm and his other arm impaled through him by Jason and then later decapitated by Lori and with Jason walking out of the lake with his head. [32]
Five years after the events of Freddy Vs Jason, in 2008, Jason is captured by the military to be studied, and two-years later in 2010 Jason, is captured by the military where he was put under extreme experiments as they tried, every form to kill him, but after escaping and kill the guards, Jason is lured and trapped into a hyperbolic freeze chamber, and many years after these events the year is now 2455, the location is on a dead and old Earth. Once the shimmering blue jewel of the galaxy, Old Earth is now a contaminated planet abandoned for four centuries. Yet humans have returned to the deadly place that they once fled. Not to live, but to research the ancient rusting artifacts of the bygone civilizations that caused this environmental disaster. And little does the most recent landing party of intrepid young explorers realize the fate that awaits them as they bring Jason Voorhees back to life accidentally causes one of the biggest massacres ever seen in history causing the entire large spaceship to crash into a floating city, and Jason then kills off the mercenaries sent to kill him, and then is defeated by Kay-Em, after she used guns to rip Jason apart, but is resurrected, not by his healing factor, but by Nanites, who also upgrade him to their time, as the newly created Uber Jason, and as he continues to try to kill the remaining survivors, its leader of the mercenaries, Elijah Brodski who stalls Jason long enough to have the survivors fleed away as the ship explodes, but no relief was found as Jason survived this and was handing towards them, but Elijah yet again survived and grabs onto Jason, which sends them both through re-entry killing Elijah, and setting Jason back on another planet populated by life, as his Mask is left in a lake.[33] [34]
Personality[]
Human: Upon his behavior, Jason is an angry and savage man, living most of his childhood and adult life in the woods, he is very anti-social, has almost little to none social communication skills, and slight learning disabilities, Jason has enough intelligence as a human to dodge and block attacks, his mentality is that of a child as shown when Chris Higgins was easily able to distract and somewhat fool Jason into believing that she was his mother, Pamela, but after these events, this is no longer an issue as he has shown a more serious and sinister personality, more aggressive and brutal in Part 3 and Part 4, he was capable of disarming Rob Dier, and stealthy taking out the neighboring campers, as his only motives were to kill for his mother.
As described in Part 2 Novel About Jason's Childhood:
Even as a child, Jason was unusual. No one ever saw him smile. He never gurgled with delight at the brightly colored mobile that was hung above his crib or at the toys that he was given. He never screamed when he needed to be changed and he displayed no reaction whatsoever when his first teeth came in. He acted as though he didn’t feel the pain.
He never woke his mother in the middle of the night with crying. Sometimes, feeling the anxiety that every mother of a newborn child feels, Pamela Vorhees would awaken at night and tiptoe to the baby’s room just to reassure herself that there was nothing wrong. She would look down into the crib and see her infant Jason laying on his bed, his eyes wide open, staring at her. He never made a sound.
For a while, she was afraid that there might be something wrong with him, and that perhaps he was autistic, one of those tragic children who were withdrawn into their own secret, silent world. But Jason was not withdrawn. He noticed everything. His reactions were unusually quick and sharp. He was incredibly alert and his senses were remarkably acute. He grew strong quickly, and he never became ill.
He had no playmates because the other children avoided him. They seemed to be afraid of him. They ran away from him and complained about his “creepy eyes.” In truth, there was nothing at all unusual about his eyes, except for the fact that, like a cobra, he never seemed to blink. The neighbors could never really explain why, when they were walking back from the train station after riding home from work, they always crossed to the opposite side of the street whenever Jason was outside playing. It was as if some involuntary reaction had taken hold of them, some primal instinct warning them away. [35]
Revenant Zombie: Upon being resurrected in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives which was indirectly caused by Tommy Jarvis who revived Jason when a Lightning bolt had hit the fence pole that Tommy was stabbing Jason's corpse with and so with a now revived Revenant Jason who is now retaining his previous personality and mentality and is now keeping to his original motives of killing and keeping people out of the camp itself, but now he has no concept or understanding of what Pain, Reason, and or Remorse is but developed his own moral mortality, as he never once kills a child or harms an animal (Unless the animal attacks him), and has shown to have killed a would-be Rapists with visual disgust, displaying some moral social characteristics.
Cyborg: During Jason X, Jason after having his body knocked into a nanite-equipped medical station, Jason is now revived but as a futuristic Cyborg with dramatically increased physical appearance but has not stopped his mentality as Jason remembers his targets, and shows visual hatred for the android KM-14 who destroyed his original body and form, despite this nothing has really changed to his personality.
Appearance[]
Powers and Abilities[]
Human:
- Superhuman Strength: Jason as a human had enough power to impale two young adults with a spear that went through them and through the bed mattress and frame in a single shot. [36] Capable of crushing human skulls until their eyeballs poke out, and throw entire corpses like they are giant sacks feet away.[37] and in the official novelization for Part III states that Jason threw "Stacks of hay bales that weighed hundreds of pounds down as he threw them about effortlessly."[38] and that both his physical grip strength and his hand strength is so potent he was capable of grabbing a full teenager from a unbroken glass window and tossing her on top of a car denting it by her body impact alone, as he was able to throw a hammer into a wall and had it sticking firmly, and broke down a door within moments.[39]
- Stalk: Inhumanly capable of staying still and masking his footsteps, capable of sneaking into people's houses undetected [40], having the composure to maneuver through a farm without being heard and being scene.[41] This doesn't compare to when Jason snuck into Rob Dier's tent without him noticing and breaking his rifle in the process. [42]
- Superhuman Durability: Throughout Part 2-4 it was displayed that Jason has numerous amounts of feats of withstanding blows that would and could kill normal human beings, he has survived a machete through his shoulder that completely broke through bone in Part 2, survived a knife to his knee with no real stop of momentum then surviving being noosed in the barn, having completely survive a axe to his skull and only knocking him out in Part 3, then having to survive numerous shots to the skull from a hammer, surviving a TV being thrown on his head, and having his hand split in half with a machete without any sense of real pain, and even survive for a moment with a Machete in the side of his skull, and was finally taken out from numerous strikes from Tommy Jarvis from Part 4.
- Superhuman Stamina: Jason Voorhees has shown to have had a large amount of stamina for someone who has endured numerous amount of fatal injuries and spent most of his time chasing and following his victims around a large area of Camp Crystal Lake, even so he is shown stalking for hours on end without any real showing of needing to eat, drink, or sleep.
- Pain Tolerance: Despite his peak superhuman feats, his arguably most known display is his tolerance to suppress the concept of pain or even ignore it outright, he has only shown to make grunts when hurt a rare amount of times, but his mentality to suppress (or ignore) the pain is something inhuman to do.
- Unknown Regenerative Ability: Only mostly seen from Part 2 to Part 3, Jason displayed a healing factor which helped saved him from his injury from his Shack, from Ginny Fields, and was capable of stopping any bleeding from after the inflicted wound.
Revenant Zombie:
- Supernatural Strength: Following his indirect resurrection at the hands of Tommy Jarvis, Jason Voorhees was returned to the living, and with new found strength he was capable of ripping a mans arm off, capable of committing a triple decapacitation, the display of turning Sissy Baker head 360 with outright ease, his true display of strength comes from when he was capable of bending Mike Garris entire spine backwards, and his strength is also shown in Part 7, where he swings a full grown woman in a sleeping bag into a tree without hesitation, this is further confirmed about his strength is when shown that he crushed Ben MacNeal head into goo, and when fighting Freddy in the dreamworld that Jason managed to lift a boiling hot boiler that weighted over 10 tons with one-handed.[43], and when in Jason X it was Pre-Uber Jason who was capable of denting and slightly bending a full unknown metallic steel door from the future with his bare fist alone.[44]
- Immortality: After being revived, Jason doesn't age and is immune to all diseases, and can withstand any damage to his body.
- Regeneration: As of being observed, researched, and then studied at the Camp Crystal Lake Research Facility that Jason possess a healing ability to make him regenerate dead or missing limbs, as in Freddy Vs Jason he lost his fingers, and yet years later he was capable of regenerating them, its unknown if this has any limits or any specific time, but knowing that he can withstand years of abuse from scientists and the military its no reason to believe his healing factor is always active at all times.
- Unlimited Stamina: As an undead being, Jason has an infinite amount of Stamina, he doesn't need to Eat, Drink, or Sleep.
- Pain Immunity: Being undead, Jason doesn't have any nervous systems, and so his body and brain can't feel any damage he takes, no matter what is inflicted, as in Jason X, it was revealed by Rowan LaFontaine, that the military tried any and all methods of killing him.
- Supernatural Durability: As a Revenant Zombie and having both Immortality and Regenerative abilities, Jason has a near-immeasurable amount of physical durability.
- Near-Invulnerability: No matter the amount of Damage that Jason's body has received, he is capable of being completely unharmed be it from fire, gun shots, stabs, or electrocution, he is capable of walking through it, and is unless higher damage weapons come into play as in Jason Goes to Hell, when the FBI themselves had mortar bombed Jason into several body parts, but only with his heart surviving.
- Unknown Teleportation/Shifting: Displayed in Part's 6-FvJ, Jason is capable of disappearing and reappearing in different locations than he previous was in or at in seconds, capable of catching his victims without the needing of running or sprinting after them, he simply just be there without them even seeing or hearing him move.
Uber Jason:
- Monstrous Strength:' As Uber Jason, he has displayed an enhance in his already supernatural strength into something above, as the previous door he tried to smash through with his fist which couldn't be destroyed, is now nothing to him as he one-shot punches down a full metal door with a single hit.
- Near-Invulnerability: With his metallic upgrade, Jason is now completely melee proof and bullet proof, and can survive any and all damage to his body no matter the weapon used against him be it single or automatic fire, and he even survived the explosion of the Solaris spaceship.
- Regeneration: As before his regenerative powers are now enhanced, his cyborg body can still regenerate lost cells to keep him mobile.
- Unlimited Stamina: Like before he has no end to his energy preserves and can go without eating, sleeping, or drinking.
- Space Survivability: With Uber Jason being more upgraded than before, Jason with his new mask has the ability to survive in the vacuum of space, displaying no sign of freezing or lack of oxygen.
- Previous Established Abilities: Jason being a cyborg its logical that he retains his previous known abilities prior to being upgraded.
Outlier Power:
- Possession: Shown only once and only within Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday is where Jason out of nowhere gains a new power where he can body swap with other people via a demonic worm, and so within this context this is a one-time established power namely for plot device and is an outlier.

Jason Voorhees total body count of 152 kills. (Adding the Reboot Jason own Kills total would be 166 Victims but since this is about the older and original he isn't counted here.)
The writer of Jason X Todd Farmer was asked about how many were killed as the rumor is that Jason killed 20,000 people but he corrected it as stating "No. That rumor is so very annoying. It was 19,727. RIP. And while it hurts my heart to mention... 207 dogs, 17 cats, 4713 angelfish, guppies, Neons and Mollys, 3 gerbils, 14 rats, and 1 pony. Rumor has it there was a Komodo Dragon but I'm pretty sure that's bs."[45]
By Todd Farmers words this means Jason would have indirectly caused the death of the 14,771 people but by adding the deceased animals Jason's total kill count is 19,727 in Jason X (for indirect Kills) and not adding the previous films
Jason Voorhees True Kill Count is 19,879 Kills! making Jason Voorhees the undisputed King of Slashers body counts.
Note: During the New Blood deleted scene, Jason would take the live of a random fisher man, its unlikely counted, due to being a deleted scene making it unrealistically 16 kills instead of the 15 kills.
